How are we living greener here at the store?
We continue to be the community recyling center for home-owners to drop off their fluorescent bulbs, batteries, paint and more. (see services page for recycling details).

Recently, we removed old fluorescent lighting fixtures in the store and replaced them with new energy efficient/eco-friendly fixtures. Instead of using the larger T12 bulbs these new fixtures use T8 bulbs which are much more energy efficient.

We have also replaced all light switches with motion sensors. Unless the room is being used the lights stay on no longer than two min. [You should see the team trying to eat lunch in the break room. It's like watching them do the wave at a baseball game just to keep the lights on. Too funny.]

These changes have had an immediate impact on the amount of light inside the store (brighter) and at the same time reduced on our energy bill considerably. That's an example of greener living.

We continue to look for ways to make an impact on our own environmental footprint as well as ways to help our friends/customers do the same. Next on our list is to replace the bathroom/kitchen fixtures with low-flow toilets and instant-on water heaters.
